Got to give some more congratulations to a couple of my friends and clients on their success at Nationals:  Kim Wendt -- National Champion Novice NonPro Showmanship and 9th Novice NonPro Western Equitation; Leslie Goolsby --  9th NonPro Aged Geldings, 7th NonPro 3yo Mares, 5th NonPro Hunter In Hand Mares, 8th NonPro Hunter In Hand Stallions; Ron Backer -- Reserve National Champion NonPro 2yo Mares; Jamie Boller -- Reserve World Champion Youth Heritage.  Special congrats also go out to Dave Parlier and his clients on a VERY successful youth world/nationals!  Good luck to everyone who still has classes left!

Hailey is on her way to her new home with Susan Frazier in Casper, Wyoming.  It's actually a new home for both, as Susan is from New Waverly, TX but in the process of moving :)  She picked Hailey up on her way to Wyoming with her other horses.  Carolyn did me the favor of being there to help see her off so I wouldn't have to watch her leave (thanks Carolyn!).  It was definitely best for me and Hailey both that she sell, but it was definitely bittersweet.  She is the first baby I've raised, Zippy's first baby, and a real joy to work with.  She'll be missed...

Oh yeah, and major congratulations to Angela Siemer!  She placed 3rd in the Non-Pro Working Hunter at Nationals and 4th in the Green Working Hunter.  As if that wasn't impressive enough, she decided literally a week an a half ago that she was going to show, and on a horse she hasn't shown at an appaloosa show in well over a year (and hasn't been riding regularly due to all the mud)!  She had a particularly great ride in the Non-Pro and placed 1st under one judge and 2nd under 2 :)

Not much new going on.  Because of time, and frankly money, I've decided to get serious about selling Hailey.  If you know of anyone looking for a fun, talented prospect, send them my way :)  I really think she'll turn out to be a really nice pleasure/all-around horse, I just don't have the time/space/money to be the one to get her there.  She's priced at $4000, offers considered.

First of all, if you haven't seen my recip mare, click here!  She's a loud tobiano paint mare!  Next spring is going to look pretty dang funny with my spotted hunt seat appy baby calling this thing momma!  She's been dubbed "Luci" for the duration of her stay here.  She's not as bad as some horror stories I've heard about recips, but frankly, she's named Luci for a reason (Luci-fer!).  She did check 75 days in foal, but her foal was in a position where the vet couldn't even make an educated guess at the sex.  Guess we'll just have to wait and see on that one!

Leia checked 60 days in foal with what looks like a colt.  Roxie checked 20 days in foal to Sand In M' Shoes.  She is on lease to Angela Siemer for the year.  Check out Angela's site at www.trechicperformancehorses.com!

Not much else going on around here.  We're finally looking at getting started on show season.  Looking at an open show this weekend in Norman and an app show in OKC the next.

Apparently luck was on our side, because at 15 days, Leia actually checked IN FOAL!  Don't really know HOW that managed to work out, but it did.  No complaints here!

One of Zippy's recipient mares also checked in foal.  She should be far enough along in her pregnancy for me to bring her to Stillwater in the next couple of weeks.

Zippy comes back from Dave's this week and we'll (HOPEFULLY) start hitting the shows next weekend.  Keeping my fingers crossed that I can get my show clothes back in time and 3 days is enough time to get me back in shape to ride!

I FINALLY got some pages up to show off my horses!  I'll give everyone a quick update of what's going on...

We bred Zippy on March 2 to Last Detail.  We flushed two embryos and implanted them in recipient mares on March 11.  We're awaiting the preg checks on the recip mares to see if they took.

Roxie had a sorrel stud colt by Blazin Hot Tip on Feb. 09.  At 10 days old he was diagnosed with a fractured growth plate in his ankle.  On Feb. 28, we lost him to complications of his injury.  Waylon was a tall, leggy colt with good movement and a fantastic disposition.  He had a ton of potential and won't soon be forgotten.

We will be breeding Roxie to Sand In M' Shoes later this month.

We attempted to breed Leia Monday, but despite closely monitoring her cycle and giving HCG shots, she has STILL not ovulated (Wednesday).  Needless to say, we won't be getting a foal off Monday's breeding.  We have decided to wait this cycle out and short cycle to try again in case this was transitional.

I have decided to offer Hailey for sale.  She'll be a fantastic all-around prospect for someone, I just don't see me having the time to do everything with her that she needs and still have time to show Zippy and deal with the upcoming babies.  I'd rather give her a chance to get into a home with someone who can do her justice.  Contact me if you know someone who might be interested.
